Making Music Happen

"ONE GOOD
THING ABOUT
MUSIC
WHEN IT HITS YOU,
YOU FEEL NO PAIN."
BOB MARLEY

The University of York Music Society aims to promote music making across the university and the city of York. Online, you can keep up to date with our concert series, book time in our practise rooms, sign up for our talks or a recording session and find out more about what’s happening in the coming months. Welcome to Music Soc..

TALKS
A brand new scheme starting soon, Music Soc are introducing a series of talks by established and very highly regarded musicians, composers producers and others connected to the Music Industry. These pioneering talks are an exciting new development, more details of which will be available soon..
MUSIC PRODUCTION
Music Soc now provides free recording sessions for our members in bands, classical ensembles, soloists or something entirely different. Our trained production team can help you to create a high quality recording towards a variety of projects which can be part of your course or for personal use.
CONCERTS
Our strong concert series continues throughout the academic year with some great student performances taking place mid-day at the Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall at the University. We have also begun a scheme for exceptional music acts, giving them the opportunity to do professional standard evening concerts.
We do so many great things in addition to our Talks, Studio Work and Concert Series. YUSU's Music Society also gives members the opportunity to sign up to either give (paid) or recieve instrumental/vocal tuition. We also loan out instruments, provide bursaries for students towards musical pursuits and have our very own practice rooms!
