PRACTICE ROOMS AND INSTRUMENTS
The Music Society Practice Rooms are located behind the Courtyard Bar, near Derwent College. There are 4 rooms, all equipped with pianos and music stands where you can practice in peace without disturbing your housemates!
The largest practice room also contains a drum kit and amplifier, so if you wantto start a band, there’s space for you too.These practise rooms are only available to Music Society Members. You will beable to book a room in advance using our online booking system.
In order to keep you and our instruments safe, the rooms can only be accessed once your Student Card has been updated to open the securely locked doors. Inorder to do this, you’ll need to pay a visit to the Derwent Porters any Friday afternoon and show themyour Music Society membership card – they’ll be more than happy to help!
We love our practice space, and think it’s fantastic that the university have given us such a brilliant resource, so we would really appreciate your help in maintainthe rooms. If you find anything broken or damaged – from instruments to chairs – please letus know by sending a quick email to musicsoc@yusu.org.

BURSARIES
Apply for a Bursary
A small number of bursaries are available each year for Music Society members. To apply, request an application form from our chair (musicsoc@yusu.org). Applications are considered each December.
Bursaries can be given for:

Instrumental/voice lessons.

Final year music students to help towards costs of Solo Project costs.
